PM Motor Construction Details
Rare-earth permanent magnet rotor The rotor uses rare-earth permanent magnets. Reduces electrical and copper losses compared to AC induction motors. Increases energy efficiency. Higher torque with lower starting current.
Dynamically balanced shaft The rotor assembly is dynamically balanced. Operates without vibration at high RPM. Protects bearings and ensures quiet operation under continuous load.
Die-cast brass end covers Precision-machined die-cast brass upper and lower brackets. Resists oxidation and hydrostatic pressure in underground environments.
Electronically commutated (EC) brushless design No carbon brushes. Electronic commutation replaces mechanical friction. No carbon dust. No maintenance required.
Operating Limits of permanent magnet motor
Permanent magnet motors operate within the following limits:
Max. liquid temperature: 35°C
Minimum Cooling Flow Speed: 0.16 m/s across the stainless steel casing
Voltage fluctuation: ±10% of MPPT controller output
Mounting: Vertical (deep well) or horizontal (basin booster)
Off-Grid and Solar Pumping Applications
Solar-powered agricultural irrigation – Works with solar MPPT controllers. Zero fuel cost for crop irrigation, pivot systems, and greenhouses.
Remote livestock watering – Water replenishment for cattle ranches, pastures, and wildlife preserves.
Off-grid domestic water supply – Groundwater lifting for remote communities and rural locations using solar arrays or battery banks.
Engineering Insights & FAQ
What are the financial and technical benefits of using a permanent magnet motor instead of a standard AC motor for deep well pumping?
A permanent magnet motor does not use rotor magnetization energy. It operates with high efficiency across its speed range. In solar applications, this allows the pump to start earlier in the morning and stop later in the evening, increasing daily water output with fewer solar panels.
Does the permanent magnet rotor lose magnetism over years of operation in hot well water?
No. Rare-earth magnets are used with high-temperature stability. With Class F insulation and a minimum cooling flow of 0.16 m/s, magnetic field strength remains stable over the motor’s life.
How does rotor dynamic balancing affect the pump end lifespan?
Permanent magnet synchronous motors produce high torque at variable speeds. Rotor imbalance creates vibrations that damage bearings and seals. Our rotors are machined and dynamically balanced to eliminate vibration, protecting motor bearings and the pump end.
Can these permanent magnet brushless motors connect directly to an AC grid?
No. They require electronic commutation. An external controller or inverter must supply the correct frequency and phase voltages, whether the input power is DC (solar) or AC (grid/generator).
